WINCHESTER, Mass. - The Boston University women's tennis team defeated Navy in a 4-2 decision on Saturday evening. After dropping the doubles point, BU came back to win on four singles courts to earn the victory.
Despite dropping the doubles point, senior Victoria Carlsten and junior Nina Gulbransen won on Court 3 in a dominant 6-0 decision.
In singles, sophomore Emily Zhao earned BU's first point with a 6-1, 6-2 win at line four. Navy took back the lead with a win at the No. 5 spot but BU tied it again when freshman Ellie Gyuro won her match 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot. Senior Kaitlin Tan was next to pick up a point at line three also in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The match was decided by freshman Uma Bakaityte who battled to a 6-4, 7-6 (7) win at the No. 2 spot to keep BU undefeated in league play.
BU will continue Patriot League play when it faces Lehigh on April 13.
