Borzymowski, Poerio Highlight Program-Record 19 Academic Honorees
March 4, 2024 | Field Hockey
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Boston University field hockey team set a program record with 19 student-athletes being named to the 2023 Patriot League Fall Academic Honor Roll.
BU has now placed at least 14 players on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in each of the past eight seasons. The previous record was 17, set in 2018.
Fifth-year senior Rachel Borzymowski earned the honor for the fifth straight year while senior Kate Thomason was on the list for the fourth consecutive year.
To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average (GPA) in the academic semester which coincides with their sport.
Borzymowski and junior Tegan Poerio were also named Scholars of Distinction by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for having a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher. This marks the fourth straight year that Borzymowski has earned the honor while Poerio was a first-time honoree. They joined six other Terriers on the NFHCA National Academic Squad for having a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
