Men’s Rowing Places 13 On Empacher-IRCA Scholar-Athlete List

BOSTON – Thirteen Boston University men's rowing student-athletes were named 2024 Empacher-IRCA Scholar-Athletes, the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) announced on Wednesday (June 19).
BU's 13 selections are the most since the IRCA's formation in 2020. The Terriers have placed at least 10 student-athletes on the list in the last four years, improving on 2023's total of 11.
In order to be named a "scholar athlete", rowers and coxswains must have met the following criteria:
During the 2024 spring semester, the program recorded a 3.39 grade-point average. Five Terriers earned perfect 4.0 GPAs: Jan Koska, Owen Loeb, Stefan Scornavacca, Wynant Hubbard, and Andrea Garbo.

- Athletes from all IRCA Member Schools are eligible
- Athletes must be in their second year or more of eligibility
- Athletes must have competed in their program's top 3 boats during the current season or raced at the 2023 IRA Championship
- Athletes must have, at least, a 3.50 cumulative GPA through fall semester
