
Terriers Roll to Season-Opening Victory at SHU Fall Classic

MILFORD, Conn. - Led by career-best performances from sisters Madison and Victoria Takai, the Boston University women's golf team finished off a dominating performance at the season-opening SHU Fall Classic on Tuesday, winning the team title by 52 strokes at Great River Golf Club.
Madison Takai claimed her first collegiate title with a 3-over 219 (72-70-77) while Victoria finished runner-up with a 7-over 223 (74-73-76). The Terriers took up the top four spots on the leaderboard as senior Christy Chen was third at plus-9 (73-73-79--225) and sophomore Amy Han took fourth at plus-11 (78-72-77--227).
BU posted an 893 over the three rounds for a score of plus-29. Mount St. Mary's was runner-up in the eight-team field with a score of 945 (+81). Merrimack (+91) and host Sacred Heart (+104) rounded out the top four. BU had the low score in all three rounds of the tournament
Junior Annika Manjunath tied for 16th in the tournament at plus-23 (77-80-82--239) while senior Meiqi Gao (77-82-81--240) and sophomore Hibiki Adachi (79-80-82--241) placed 18th and 19th, respectively.
Victoria Takai, who had the second-lowest round in the field on Tuesday with a 76, shot 4-under on par 5s over the course of the tournament.
This marks the second straight season that the Terriers won their opening tournament as they claimed the title at last year's Bucknell Invitational.
BU will return to action in two weeks at Boston College's Red Bandanna Intercollegiate at Blue Hill Country Club in Canton on Sept. 23-24.
