BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman
Allison Schwertner led three Terriers in double figures with 14 points, but the Boston University women's basketball program dropped an 80-54 contest to Lehigh on Wednesday evening at Stabler Arena.
BU (7-9, 1-4 PL) led at halftime after overcoming multiple double-digit deficits. However, the Mountain Hawks (13-4, 4-1 PL) outscored the Terriers 50-21 in the second half, dropping 31 points in the third quarter.
Schwertner made seven of her 11 shots and led BU with five rebounds. Junior

Ella Stemmer led Lehigh with 14 points, joining Lily Fandre (12 points) and Whitney Lind (11 points) in double figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Hawks scored the first seven points of the game in the first 1:48, with Stemmer providing a three-pointer and a layup.
- BU trailed by 10 in the first quarter on multiple occasions, including 20-10 before two free throws from sophomore Bella McLaughlin and senior Alex Giannaros' step-back jumper just inside the arc pulled BU within six entering the second quarter.
- Lehigh missed its first 11 shots of the second frame, allowing BU to continue its 16-0 run. The Terriers went ahead 24-20 midway through after Monteagudo canned a right-wing three, then picked off a pass for an easy lay-in.
- Layups from Adler and sophomore Sisi Bentley, as well as a corner three from Monteagudo, pushed the BU lead to as high as 31-24 with 1:26 until halftime.
- The Terriers led 33-30 at the break, but Lehigh regained the lead nearly two-and-a-half minutes into the third quarter when Stemmer's corner triple made it 38-35.
- With four minutes to play in the period, Lehigh's Maddie Albrecht and Giannaros traded three-point plays, the latter pulling BU within 48-44. However, Lehigh closed the stanza on a 13-2 run for a 61-46 advantage heading to the fourth.
- Giannaros stuck a baseline jumper to open the final frame, but Vitalicio and Stemmer knocked down three-pointers to build the Mountain Hawk advantage to 67-48.
- Adler and Schwertner made layups to close the gap to 15 points, but those were the last BU buckets for the next six-and-a-half minutes as Lehigh pulled away on a 13-0 run.
STATS
- The Terriers made 44 percent of their shots, with its best performance occurring in the second quarter (7-for-10).
- Lehigh finished the game shooting 44.6 percent, draining 14 three-pointers on a 46.7 percent clip.
- The Mountain Hawks held the narrow advantage in rebounds, 32-31.
- Point paints favored BU, 36-28.
- Lehigh turned 21 Terrier turnovers into 27 points.
- BU notched 16 assists on 22 baskets, with Monteagudo and sophomore Aoibhe Gormley leading the team each with four.
NOTES
- Giannaros moved into 14th place in program history with 1,197 career points, surpassing both Rashidat Agboola '14 and Laura Boettcher '89.
- Schwertner recorded her first double-digit performance since Dec. 12 at UMass Lowell, and now has five such performances in her rookie year.
- In her last three games, Monteagudo is shooting 11-for-20 (55 percent) from the field, and has scored 10 points in consecutive games for the first time in her career.
- Adler's 10 points are a season high.
- Lehigh now has the lead in the all-time series, 13-12.
