BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University women's basketball forward Allison Schwertner has been selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the week of Jan. 20, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Schwertner picks up her league-leading fourth Rookie of the Week honor this season. No other Patriot League student-athlete has received four Patriot League weekly awards this season, for either Player or Rookie of the Week. She is the second Terrier in program history to earn at least four Patriot League Rookie of the Week accolades, joining Maggie Pina (CAS'23).
Across two games for the Terriers last week, Schwertner led the Terriers in scoring and rebounding with 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. She made nearly 58 percent of her shots while adding two blocks.
Against Lehigh on Jan. 15, she collected her first league game in double digits with 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting to pair with five rebounds. She followed that up with 11 points and six boards vs. Army West Point on Jan. 18.
In her freshman year, Schwertner is second on the team with 8.4 points per game while pacing BU with 4.8 rebounds per contest, 22 offensive rebounds and 12 blocks.
BU returns to action on Wednesday (Jan. 22), hosting Navy for Education Day at 11:30 a.m.
