Pietersen Tabbed Hockey East Player of the Week

AMESBURY, Mass. – Sophomore Mari Pietersen of the No. 15 Boston University women's ice hockey team was named the Hockey East Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Pietersen shut out Holy Cross twice over the weekend with a 2-0 win on the road and a 3-0 win at home. In her performance Friday, the sophomore set a career high in saves, making 25 between the posts for her first career shutout. She also made 15 saves in the first game back at the newly renovated Walter Brown Arena to help BU complete the series sweep.
The shutouts mark the first time since 2022 that the Terriers had the same goalie with back-to-back shutouts, a feat most recently accomplished by Andrea Brändli. Pietersen is the first goaltender to record a shutout in consecutive games since 2021, while also doing so against the same opponent.
The sophomore is now 4-2-0 on the season with three of her wins coming in Hockey East play.
BU (16-8-1, 13-4-1 HE) will be back at Walter Brown Arena when it faces No. 12 Boston College on Friday (Jan. 31) at 6 p.m.
