Tony Ponomarev and sophomore
Giovanni Sullo each picked up two wins to pace the Boston University men's swimming & diving team in a 177-122 victory in the season opener at Holy Cross on Saturday at Hart Center Pool.
Sullo broke a 35-year-old pool record in the 1,000-yard freestyle and also came out on top in the 500 free. Ponomarev won the 200 freestyle and the 200 backstroke while also leading off a 200 medley relay that finished first. Freshman
Hugh Harrison earned two wins in his collegiate debut, touching the wall first in the 50 free and 200 IM. Â
The Terriers will return to action next Saturday (Oct. 18) when they face Bucknell in the home opener. The meet will start at 1:30 p.m.
