BOSTON – No. 13 Boston University women's ice hockey team (0-5-0, 0-0-0 HE) fell to Brown (1-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) in a 2-1 outcome on Friday night at Walter Brown Arena.

After a scoreless first frame, BU took a 1-0 lead at 2:59 in the second. The Terriers held that lead until 19:26 in frame when Brown evened the score, 1-1. The Bears then scored just 1:04 into the final frame to take a 2-1 lead which it never relinquished. BU pulled its netminder with 2:14 to go but could not catch back up and fell to Brown, 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU went on the penalty kill with 13:26 to play in the first after it was called for interference.
- After successfully killing the penalty, BU went back to the box, this time for holding.
- The Terriers were again successful on the penalty kill.
- With 1:19 to go in the first, the Terriers went on the power play due to a Brown tripping.
- BU did not find the back of the net during the advantage, which extended into the second frame.
- At 2:59 in the second, a pass by S. Healey was tipped by Li. Welcke to Lu. Welcke, who, after a battle at the crease, popped the puck up into the back of the net.
- BU went to the box for tripping 36 seconds later but successfully killed the penalty.
- The Bears were called for holding at 7:34 but BU did not score during the power play.
- The Terriers had another power play chance due to a cross checking call at 14:50 but were unable to change the score.
- With 34 seconds to go in the frame, Brown evened the score, 1-1.
- The Bears brought their momentum into the third with a goal at 1:04 to take a 2-1 lead.
- BU went to the box for holding at 4:56 and did not allow Brown to score.
- With 5:06 to go in the frame, Brown was called for body checking.
- The Terriers did not score on the power play.
- BU pulled Pietersen with 2:14 to go in the game, but it was unable to change the score, resulting in the 2-1 loss.
