BOSTON – Boston University women's ice hockey (1-6-0, 1-1-0 HE) fell to No. 12 Northeastern (5-2-0, 2-0-0 HE) in a 3-1 decision on Friday evening at Walter Brown Arena.

With a highlight reel goal in the first, senior Clara Yuhn gave BU a 1-0 lead which lasted until 9:31 in the middle stanza when the Huskies evened the score. The game remained tied through multiple penalties until 19:32 in the third, when Northeastern scored the game-winner and added an empty net goal 17 seconds later to defeat the Terriers, 3-1.

Yuhn's goal was assisted by freshman Lucy Thiessen, who is on a two-game point streak. Graduate student Michelle Pasiechnyk made 37 saves in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both teams skated aggressively to start the game.
  • An initial shot by Yuhn was saved and recollected by Thiessen.
  • Thiessen then passed the puck back towards the slot and, as it sailed through the air, Yuhn batted it in at the top of the crease to give BU a 1-0 lead just 2:59 into the game.
  • BU was called for tripping at 10:23 in the first and successfully killed the penalty.
  • At 3:17 in the second, the Huskies went to the box for tripping.
  • BU was then called for hooking 10 seconds later, resulting in 4-on-4 on the ice.
  • Both penalties cleared with no change in score.
  • Northeastern was then called for tripping at the 5:50 mark but successfully killed the penalty.
  • At 9:31, the Huskies won a battle for the puck in the neutral zone and broke away to even the score, 1-1.
  • Pasiechnyk made two back-to-back saves off shots from the slot to keep the score tied at the end of the second frame.
  • Northeastern went to the box for cross checking with 13:54 to play in the third.
  • BU did not find the back of the net through the power play.
  • The Huskies were called for hooking at 11:12.
  • Northeastern challenged for a major penalty to be assessed prior to the hooking call, but the challenge was unsuccessful.
  • The Huskies were then successful on the penalty kill.
  • BU went to the box for hooking at 17:40.
  • Northeastern scored on the power play to take a 2-1 lead with 28 seconds left in regulation.
  • BU then pulled Pasiechnyk from the posts for an extra skater and Northeastern capitalized with an empty net goal at 19:49.
  • BU was assessed a penalty for delay of game right after the goal, but the score remained unchanged as BU fell to Northeastern, 3-1.
