McCarthy Named to U.S. Collegiate Selects Roster

BOSTON — Junior captain Gavin McCarthy was named to the United States Collegiate Selects roster for the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland this coming December, the team announced Thursday.
McCarthy, a Clarence Center, N.Y. native, has posted two goals and two assists in 11 games this season for the Terriers, scoring against then-No. 3/4 Michigan State and last Saturday (Nov. 8) at Merrimack. The junior has also blocked 13 shots and currently owns a +8 plus-minus, good for second on the Terriers and tied for second in Hockey East.
The United States Collegiate Selects will face Team Canada to open play Spengler Cup play on December 26. Each team will play a minimum of three contests and maximum of five during the six-day event.
The tournament is being broadcast to over 20 countries, either through a partner or via livestream. Official word on how the games can be seen in the United States will be announced at a later date.

Along with the Selects, host HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, Sparta Praha and IFK Helsinki will be taking part in the 2025 edition.
