Terriers Top VTSU Johnson, 104-57

BOSTON – Boosted by 16 3-pointers, the Boston University men's basketball team rolled to a 104-57 victory over VTSU Johnson at Case Gym Wednesday evening.
BU (4-5) finished the contest shooting 38-of-60 (.633), including 16-of-31 from behind the arc, with five Terriers reaching double figures. The defense held the Badgers (0-7) to 35.7 percent shooting and posted a 37-22 advantage in rebounds.
Freshman Andrew Bhesania led the way in his debut, totaling 23 points with the help of four 3-pointers, while junior Michael McNair flushed six of his own off nine attempts for 18 points. Junior Quinn Nielsen posted a personal-best 10 points with eight rebounds, while freshman Donte Tisinger Jr. (14 pts.) and sophomore Azmar Abdullah (11 pts.) combined for 25 points off the bench.
Jaylen Brown earned a team-high 14 points with three steals for the Badgers, while Martin Askenazi recorded 11 points. Both Andrew Philliips and Niv Barzilay added seven points apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- McNair drained half of his 3-pointers over the first 3:08 of action to help the Terriers jump out to a 12-2 lead.
- After the Badgers pulled within eight (17-9) on Fitzgerald's layup with 14:31 remaining in the half, the Terriers went on a 20-3 run capped by senior Ben Roy's layup at 8:51.
- During the final minute, Bhesania and Tisinger both hit buckets to grab a 60-27 halftime lead.
- In the second half, Nielsen's slam dunk extended BU's lead to 78-38 at 12:18.
- With four minutes remaining, Tisinger fed Bhesania for a 3-pointer and added another to claim their largest lead of the game, 100-52.
- Bhesania became the fifth Terrier to score 20+ points and third freshman alongside Chance Gladden and Sam Hughes.
- With Bhesania, Nielsen and Tisinger all scoring in double figures for the first time, BU now has 10 Terriers who have hit the mark this season.
- The Terriers' 60 first-half points were just four shy of the team's first-half record of 64 points tallied against UMass Lowell in November 2013.
- BU has now reached 100+ points 32 times, including four times under head coach Joe Jones following 113-75 win against Thomas College (2024), 102-66 victory over Hartford (2022) and 102-78 win against Maine (2016) that snapped a 22-year drought.
- The Terriers are now 2-0 against VTSU Johnson following a 90-49 victory in 2023.
- BU will hit the road again with a visit to former America East foe, New Hampshire, on Saturday for a 7 p.m. tip.
- BU leads the all-time series, 102-39, with the help of an active six-game win streak.
- The Terriers claimed a 64-57 victory in the last meeting back at UNH on Nov. 20, 2022.
