Q&A With Michael
- Why did you choose to attend BU? "I chose to attend Boston University for several reasons. At the time, I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in, and BU offered a wide range of exceptional schools to choose from. I also knew I wanted to study in a city and experience culture beyond the school, but I still wanted a university that maintained a campus feel. Of all the city schools I explored, BU had the perfect balance. Lastly, BU's strong rowing team and its well-regarded program were a major draw for me, as I was eager to take part and make an impact on successful program."
- What did you enjoy most about your BU experience? "What I enjoyed most about BU was the diversity. I got to meet so many different people, and it really helped me grow and better understand the world. I also loved being able to explore Boston. Having the train right on campus meant I could be in the heart of the city in just a few minutes, which was amazing. I got to experience so much of Boston's culture and do a ton of fun things around the city. Academically, I liked being able to take classes across different colleges at BU. It helped me figure out what I'm passionate about and what really drives me."
- How did your time at BU prepare you to get to where you are today? "My time at BU prepared me for where I am today by teaching me that life is what you make of it. BU is a big school with so much to offer, and at first, it felt easy to just go through the motions and do what was expected. But I quickly realized that putting in the extra effort was incredibly rewarding. Whether it was building relationships with professors by visiting them during office hours or making great friends by trying out niche clubs, those experiences taught me the value of going beyond what's expected. That mindset has carried into my life after college, reminding me that taking the time to better understand something or stepping into new, uncomfortable situations can make a huge difference."
- Why is it meaningful for you to be involved with the University, Athletics, and Women's Tennis as an alumnus? "The school, athletics department and the rowing team have all had a lasting impact on my life. It would feel like a missed opportunity not to stay connected to all three in some way. Being involved as an alumnus allows me to give back, support their growth, and continue to be part of something that shaped who I am. It's incredibly meaningful to contribute to their success and witness their progress firsthand."
