Maggie Pina (CAS’23) Signs With Warrandyte Venom in Australia
February 26, 2025 | Women's Basketball
VICTORIA, Australia – Boston University women's basketball guard Maggie Pina (CAS'23) has signed a professional contract overseas to play for the Warrandyte Venom, the organization formally announced last week.
Pina will suit up for the 2025 Senior Division I season, which is set to begin in March. Warrandyte plays in the Big V basketball league in Victoria, which is a level below the top-flight Women's NBL. Last year, the Venom were Division I women's champions and placed league MVP Shannon Powell-Ross and Emmie O'Nial on the All Star Five.
A four-year letterwinner at BU, Pina closed her Terrier career in the top-five on BU's all-time three-pointers list and now sits sixth with 186 makes from beyond the arc. Her 70 three-pointers in 2019-20 rank as the seventh-most by a Terrier in a single season.
BU's first-ever Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2020, Pina also garnered Third Team and All-Rookie honors that season. In the 2022-23 campaign, she earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team and NACDA Division I-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete Team.
Following her four years at BU, Pina played one final season at Northwestern in the Big Ten. Starting in nine of her 30 appearances, the West Chester, Pa. native averaged 5.6 points per game while shooting over 42 percent from three-point range.
