Lightweight Rowing Prepares for MIT on Saturday

BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing team is set for its second spring race of the season when it faces off against the openweight crew from MIT on Saturday, March 29 at 8 a.m. on the Charles River.

Saturday's races air on ESPN+ beginning at the top of the hour. Live results can be found on HereNow using the link at the top of the article.

RACE SCHEDULE – MARCH 29

8:00 a.m. – Varsity 8+
8:36 a.m. – Second Varsity 8+
9:12 a.m. – Varsity 4+

LAST TIME OUT

The Terriers racked up two wins in its spring opener against Boston College on March 22.
BU retained the Gummy Bear Bowl with a victory in the Varsity 8+ with a time of 7:12.4.
The Second Varsity 8+ was decided by less than a second, with the Terriers coming out on top in 7:41.0.

SCOUTING MIT

The Engineers began their spring with three wins over the United States Coast Guard Academy on March 22, all by over 30 seconds.
MIT's Varsity 8+ crossed the finish line in 7:35.5.
Last year, MIT placed third overall at the Patriot League Championship for the first time since 2012 with a silver medal in the Second Varsity 8+ and bronze in the Varsity 8+ and 4+.
BU's openweight crew captured the Patriot League title in that competition.

SERIES HISTORY

BU and MIT's openweight crews meet on the Charles for the second consecutive year.
That season, the crews raced four boats alongside Wellesley. The Terriers came out on top in all four races.
The Varsity 8+ was the closest race that day as the Terriers were ahead by an 11-and-a-half second margin.

LOOKING AHEAD

BU returns to the water on Sunday, April 6 when they race against Bates on the Charles River.
