Giannaros, Schwertner Highlight All-Patriot League Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University women's basketball senior Alex Giannaros and freshman Allison Schwertner were spotlighted in the Patriot League's postseason awards, the league announced on Friday afternoon.
Giannaros was selected to the All-Patriot League Second Team. Schwertner earned a spot on the Patriot League All-Rookie Team.
For Giannaros, she joins Katie Nelson '21, Maren Durant '23 and Sydney Johnson '23 as the only Terriers in program history to earn All-Patriot League honors in all four seasons. This marks Giannaros' first Second Team accolade after garnering recognition on the All-Rookie Team in 2022, Third Team in 2023 and First Team in 2024.
Schwertner becomes the ninth Terrier in program history to receive Patriot League All-Rookie honors. BU has had at least one student-athlete on the All-Rookie Team in six of the last nine seasons.
In her fourth year on Commonwealth Ave., Giannaros leads BU and is eighth in the Patriot League with 13.4 points per game. Her team-leading 68 three-pointers and 2.3 triples per game rank third in the conference. The Brockton, Mass. native has eight games this year with 20-plus points and 19 double-digit performances.
Entering her final Patriot League Tournament, Giannaros is sixth on BU's all-time scoring list with 1,352 career points. She respectively ranks second and third in the Terrier annals with a .417 three-point percentage and 230 career triples.
Schwertner is second on the Terriers with 8.3 points per contest while pacing BU with 146 rebounds. She recorded 10 games with 10 or more points, highlighted by a career best 22 points against Loyola Maryland on Feb. 1. The Littleton, Colo. product was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week four times this season, including three times across a four-week span from Nov. 25 to Dec. 16.
