Vesty, Cowan Take Home PL Weekly Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Sophomore Karsen Vesty was named Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week and freshman Thomas Cowan was named PL Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Vesty, a North Havelock, New Zealand native, had a big weekend at the Raleigh Relays. He finished second at the Raleigh Relays in the 800m with a time of 1:48.21 - that mark ranks first in the Patriot League this season and he is eighth in the NCAA this year. In the 1500m, Vesty ran a 3:40.21 time that is third all-time at BU and ranks 14th in the NCAA this season, along with leading the Patriot League so far.
Cowan, an Auckland, New Zealand native, put up a 1:48.62 time in the 800m at the Raleigh Relays, finishing fifth in the event. That mark is eighth all-time at BU, ranks third in the Patriot League this year and ranks 16th in the NCAA this season.
Earning a Patriot League honorable mention was senior Samuel Roszak, who jumped 7.19m in the long jump at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational. That mark is second in the PL this year.
Next up, the Terriers travel to the UMass Flagship Spring Opener on Saturday, April 5 in Amherst, Massachusetts.
