
Collins, Cowan Pace Terriers at John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON — The Boston University men's track & field team wrapped up the John Thomas Terrier Classic Saturday night at the Track & Tennis Center.
Sophomore Thomas Cowan broke the first BU record of the day in the 800m run, finishing in 1:47.56 to topple a record set in 1997 by Kevin Murphy. That time is the second-fastest by a New Zealand native ever.
Then it was senior Freddy Collins' turn, as he clocked a 13:48.57 time in the 5000m to break the school record. His attempt toppled a record set by Callum Henderson in 1991 by over four seconds.

Top 10 Terriers
- Freshman Samuel Anderson raced to a 48.06 time in the 400m invite, adding his name to the top 10 list at number 10. He is the first Terrier to join the list since 2023.
- In the triple jump, sophomore Brayden Irhuegbae hit the sand at 14.64m, moving into eighth all-time at BU. He is one of just four Terriers to enter the list in the 21st century.
- Sophomore Luke Riordan tossed his implement 19.00m in the weight throw, finishing second in the event and moving into seventh all-time at BU.
- Senior Micah Perry won the 60m hurdles with an 8.12 time, just one one-hundredth of a second off his personal best.
- Riordan also placed fifth in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 16.19m.
- Freshman Zachary Cox used a 6.93 time to qualify for the 60m dash finals and posted a 6.92 time in the final, finishing fifth.
- In the 200m open section, freshman Nicholas Cappucio notched a 21.71 time to finish third.
