Lightweight Rowing Set for Saturday Beanpot Against Radcliffe, MIT

BOSTON – In its final race on the Charles River for the 2025 spring season, the Boston University lightweight rowing program takes on Harvard-Radcliffe and MIT for the annual Beanpot on Saturday, April 19.

- 7:45 a.m. – Varsity 8+ (Beanpot)
- 8:15 a.m. – Varsity 4+
- 8:45 a.m. – Double
- 9:15 a.m. – Varsity 4+ "B"
- BU competed in the Knecht Cup Regatta last weekend on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
- The Terriers retained their Lightweight 8+ title to take home the Danielle Kousoulis Memorial Trophy and also won the Ann Harris Smith Memorial Trophy in the Varsity 8+ for the first time in program history.
- BU also had crews finish top-three in the Women's Double and Lightweight 4+ finals.
- The Terriers held their spots for all three boats in the most recent iteration of the CRCA Lightweight Coaches Poll, released on April 15.
- BU's 8+ is 15 points behind top-ranked Princeton in second, the 4+ is third with just a four-point difference between the Tigers in first and Wisconsin in second and the 2x remains atop the rankings.
- Harvard-Radcliffe also participated in the Knecht Cup last weekend, finishing first in the Women's Double, second in the Lightweight 8+ and third in the Lightweight 4+, the latter two right behind the Terrier crews.
- Radcliffe's 8+ and 4+ were first and second against Georgetown and Princeton, respectively, in dual races earlier in the year. The 2x inverted those results with a win over the Tigers and was second vs. the Hoyas.
- MIT's double slotted in between Radcliffe and BU for second, while the Lightweight 8+ was fifth.
- The Engineers' V8 and 2V8 each recorded runner-up performances in dual races against Bates and Simmons to open April.
- Radcliffe won last year's Beanpot with a Varsity 8+ win in 7:02.1, over seven seconds in front of second-place BU.
- Prior to that, the Terriers were winners of six consecutive Beanpot titles.
- BU travels to Stanford for races at Redwood Shores on Sunday, April 27.
