WORCESTER, Mass. – The Boston University lightweight rowing program sent all five of its crews to the podium and finished second as a team at the 2025 Eastern Sprints on Sunday afternoon at Lake Quinsigamond.
BU saw three wins in its two Lightweight Double crews and the "B" boat for the Lightweight 4+. The Terriers' top 4+ as well as its Lightweight 8+ secured bronze medals as BU finished just behind Princeton in the Konrad Ulbrich team standings.
Sunday's weather featured overcast skies and negligible wind during racing, with a small rain squall appearing just as the Lightweight 8+ concluded. Temperatures hovered around the high 60s.
BU's day opened with the Lightweight "B" 2x, featuring
Chloe Capizzi (bow) and
Emilia Vukasinovic (stroke). The BU crew lined up against Wisconsin and went wire-to-wire to capture the win in 8:27.552, over 28 seconds ahead of the Badgers.
The Terrier Lightweight 4+ "B" boat, coxed by
Mira Saldanha and stroked by
Jasmine Wu, were locked in with the "A" of three Wisconsin crews. The Terriers were able to gain a lead they wouldn't relinquish after the 1,000-meter mark and triumphed in 8:17.854, with the top Badger crew posting a time of 8:19.324.
In the Lightweight 2x event, featuring
Kylie Lough (bow) and
Sam Angel (stroke), BU executed a strong start in a battle with Princeton for the top spot. The Terriers fended off the Tigers with a time of 8:20.764 for BU's third straight gold medal of the day. Princeton finished in 8:24.684.

Heather Shinn and stroked by
Cece Mason, locked into a matchup with Wisconsin after Princeton and Harvard-Radcliffe established early leads. The Terriers executed a strong push in the end to overcome the Badgers but ran out of time against the other two crews, placing third in 8:01.849. Princeton was first in 7:57.507 and Radcliffe was the runner-up in 7:59.617.
BU's Lightweight 8+, coxed by
Mayberry Mark and stroked by
Mia Seibert, closed out the day in a field of six crews. Stanford, making a rare Eastern Sprints appearance, challenged the Terriers for a podium spot as Princeton quickly built a lead. BU outlasted the Cardinal by a few seats to finish third in 6:59.180, under five seconds behind second-place Harvard-Radcliffe and 1.672 seconds in front of fourth-place Stanford.
BU is idle from race competition until the IRA National Championship Regatta, which is set to begin on Friday, May 30 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
