Vesty Named Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Five Terriers Earn Academic All-Patriot League Status

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Sophomore Karsen Vesty of the Boston University men's track & field team was named the 2025 Patriot League Outdoor Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is one of five Academic All-Patriot League team members for the Terriers, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Joining Vesty on the Academic All-PL team are junior Owen Faulha, senior Ryan Rosenberger, sophomore Shamiso Sikaneta and senior Steven Franco.

Vesty, a North Havelock, New Zealand native, won a gold medal in the 4x800m and earned silver in the 1500m at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. He finished the 1500m final in 3:50.67 and his 4x800m gold medal squad ran a 7:29.61 time. His season-best 800m time of 1:48.21 is 46th in the NCAA East Region and his season-best 3:40.21 1500m time is 31st in the East.

The sophomore is a mechanical engineering major and boasts a 3.95 GPA. Along with this being his first Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, it is his third straight season picking up an Academic All-PL nod.

Faulha, a Hardwick, Massachusetts native, broke out in a big way with the javelin this year. He won gold at the PL Championships with a 64.00m throw and set a new school record of 67.45m in the event earlier in the year, ranking 21st in the NCAA East Region. The junior is a business administration and management major and has a GPA of 3.5. This is his first Academic All-PL nod.

Rosenberger, who hails from Malvern, Pennsylvania, finished with bronze at the Patriot League Championships with a 7.51m mark in the long jump. That mark is 44th in the NCAA East Region. He majors in business administration and management and has a 3.52 GPA. This honor is his second Academic All-PL team award.

Sikaneta, a Toronto, Ontario native, took bronze in the 800m and was a part of the gold-medal 4x800m squad and ran for the 4x400m squad that finished fifth. He ran a 1:48.59 time in the 800m final and the 4x800m squad put up a 7:29.61 time to win gold. The sophomore is a mathematics major with a 3.68 GPA and this is his first Academic All-PL nod.

Franco wrapped up his final PL Championships with a gold medal in the decathlon, scoring a school and meet record 7,289 points to win the event. His mark is 33rd in the NCAA this season. The senior will graduate with a degree in advertising with a hospitality administration minor and owns a 3.32 GPA. This is his first Academic All-PL nod.
