Men’s Rowing Finishes 14th Overall at IRA Championship

June 1, 2025

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The Boston University men's rowing program concluded the 2025 IRA National Championship Regatta on Sunday, June 1 on the Cooper River.

BU saw two of its boats finish 12th in the nation to wrap up the 2024-25 racing campaign as the Terriers finished 14th in the Ten Eyck Points Trophy standings.

Racing conditions remained challenging with choppy water, though there were fewer whitecaps compared to Saturday. Wind gusts reached 26 miles per hour with a cross-tailwind continuing through the course.

BU's Varsity 8+, coxed by Emily Slawin and stroked by George Kreidler, started the morning in the C Final. A tight race with consistent overlap saw BU accelerate into the third position but ultimately crossed the finish line fifth in a time of 5:37.890, about two seconds behind fourth-place Columbia. The result slotted the Terrier crew into 17th in the nation to conclude the year.

The Third Varsity 8+, coxed by Hannah Noguchi and stroked by Wynant Hubbard, was next in the Petite Final against Brown, Dartmouth, Penn, Cornell and Northeastern. With a sixth-place finish in 5:57.600, BU closed out the season 12th overall.

The Terrier Second Varsity 8+, coxed by James Smith and stroked by Filippo de Marsanich, capped BU's season with a final race time of 5:47.250 in the Petite Final, good for sixth in the piece against Princeton, Stanford, Northeastern, Dartmouth and Penn as well as 12th in the country.

Terrier seniors Bowen de Gouw, Ethan Feldman, Baringer Lovaas, Tucker Thomas and Hurst Thompson all concluded their collegiate careers over the weekend. BU now turns its attention to the offseason returning to campus in the fall.
