Adler’s Career Day Powers Terriers Past Leopards, 66-55

EASTON, Pa. – Senior Anete Adler exploded for a career-high 27 points and 16 rebounds to guide the Boston University women's basketball program to a 66-55 victory over Lafayette on Wednesday afternoon at the Kirby Sports Center.
BU (6-12, 2-5 PL) led by as many as 18 points and never trailed in the contest, dominating the paint points, 42-22, over the Leopards (7-11, 3-4 PL).
Adler made 12 of her 21 shots en route to her first double-double of the season. She also finished with four blocks. Classmate Anastasiia Semenova supplied 15 points and seven boards.
The Terriers limited the second-leading scorer in the Patriot League, Teresa Kiewiet, to 3-of-16 shooting for 12 points. Sauda Ntaconayigize added 12 points while Maddison Krug finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers raced out to a 7-0 lead in the opening 2:52 off two baskets from Adler and a right-wing triple from junior Audrey Ericksen.
- Lafayette whittled its deficit to 13-10 following baskets from Kiewiet and Haylie Adamski, but Semenova's third straight field goal halted the mini burst and put BU up five with 2:43 left in the first quarter.
- BU scored on their first four shots in the second quarter, all layups, as part of an 8-0 run in the frame's first three minutes and extend the lead to 23-12.
- Semenova's tip-in halted a 6-0 Lafayette run before junior Aoibhe Gormley drove and pump-faked for two straight baskets inside the paint for a 29-18 Terrier lead.
- Entering the second half ahead 33-21, sophomore Hildur Gunnsteinsdóttir matched Adamski's triple with her own. Adler then scored BU's next six points to maintain the 12-point lead at 42-30.
- The Terriers ended the third quarter on an 8-0 run. Gunnsteinsdóttir fed Adler for a layup, then Ericksen drained consecutive threes in the final 1:24 for a 53-35 advantage.
- Lafayette ignited the final quarter with a 7-0 run, capped with Kiewiet's three-pointer, to pull within 53-42. Adler halted the burst with a free throw and a turnaround jumper at the 5:32 mark.
- Sophomore Rose Azmoudeh knocked down a three with 4:43 remaining on a feed from junior Bella McLaughlin. The point guard found another shooter in Semenova two minutes later for a three to make it 62-49 in BU's favor.
- Adler capped the day with a pair of layups in the final 2:12.
- BU made 50 percent of its shots (28-for-56), its fourth consecutive game shooting at least 50 percent.
- Lafayette was held to 32.3 percent shooting.
- Rebounds favored the Terriers, 42-32.
- Gunnsteinsdóttir and McLaughlin each set career best with eight and seven assists, respectively, as BU supplied 22 assists.
- The Terriers also held the advantage in second-chance points, 13-4.
- Adler surpassed her career high from Feb. 22, 2025 against American. She is the first Terrier since Alex Giannaros on Feb. 26, 2025 vs. Lehigh to drop at least 25 points in a game.
- She is also the first Terrier to secure 15 or more rebounds in a game since Caitlin Weimar on March 6, 2024.
- Semenova is up to 11 points per Patriot League game on 59.3 percent shooting. She has buried nearly 62 percent of her shots in her last three games.
- Ericksen re-entered the starting lineup and made three triples, tying her season high and giving her 84 in her career.
- McLaughlin surpassed 100 assists in her 44th appearance as a Terrier.
- Four of BU's five Division I wins have come on the road.
- The Terriers snap a three-game losing streak to Lafayette and extend their lead to 23-13 in the all-time series.
- BU hosts Alumni Day against Colgate on Saturday (Jan. 24). Opening tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.
