Pietersen Tabbed Hockey East Goaltender of the Month

AMESBURY, Mass. – Junior Mari Pietersen of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was selected as the Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Month for December, Hockey East announced Wednesday.
Pietersen went 1-1-1 in December including a win at Holy Cross and a shootout win at then-No. 7 UConn. Against the Crusaders, Pietersen made 19 stops to earn her third career shutout. She has never allowed a goal against Holy Cross in her career.
When visiting the Huskies, the junior logged 42 saves between the posts through the overtime period. She stopped two out of three shots in the shootout to help the Terriers earn an extra point in the Hockey East standings. BU has not lost a shootout this year, and Pietersen is responsible for all three of them. Her 42 saves are also her second-most in a single game in her collegiate career.
Pietersen and the Terriers will travel to New Hampshire on Saturday for a 6 p.m. tilt.
