
Terriers Battle, Fall to Syracuse, 5-2

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Boston University women's tennis team (3-3, 1-0 PL) played a close match at Syracuse (3-3, 0-0 ACC) but came up short, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon.
In doubles, BU played competitive matches in all three spots. Syracuse came away with the doubles point but not after giving up three games at line three and four at line one, at which BU played the No. 15 doubles pair in the NCAA. At line two, the Terriers and Orange were tied 5-5 when play suspended.
Syracuse took a 3-0 lead with wins at the Nos. 2 and 5 spots in singles. BU got on the board next when freshman Vasilisa Borisova took down her opponent, 6-4, 6-4 at line four. Junior Nancy Liu backed her up shortly thereafter with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the top of the lineup to go unbeaten in singles for the weekend. The Terriers continued to battle on the remaining courts, but Syracuse secured its win with a victory at line three. The Orange then won the final point at line six to complete the 5-2 win.
BU will be back in action on Friday (Feb. 13) when it plays Boston College at 1 p.m.
