Simmons was named the Boston University women's basketball director of operations in May, 2018.
In his role, Simmons handles the day-to-day operations of the program, along with organizing all logistics, including travel, for the team. In addition, Simmons serves as a liaison across the athletic department and various university campus units to ensure program standards are executed and student-athlete well-being is the focus. He is also active with the team’s social media accounts to enhance the program's brand.

Prior to arriving in Boston, Simmons served as the head manager for the UConn women's basketball team during his final two seasons and served as a manager throughout his tenure as the Huskies reached four final fours. He fulfilled all managerial duties while leading and directing over 11 managers in all aspects of daily practice and game day responsibilities, both home and away, to ensure the resolution of ad hoc coach, player and athletic staff inquiries.
Simmons also served as a student director to the Digital Media Creative Team within the UConn Department of Educational Leadership for two years in which he launched social media platforms and crafted media to expand the national reach and reputation of EDLR and department within.
Simmons graduated from UConn in May, 2018 with a dual degree in allied health sciences and sport management. He completed his master’s in higher education administration with a concentration in higher education administration from Boston University in 2021.
