Assistant women's basketball coach Stephanie Tobey begins her second year with the program in 2015-16. A Massachusetts native and 14-year coaching veteran, Tobey is the head of recruiting for the Terriers.
Tobey most recently served as an assistant coach at Bryant University for the 2013-14 season after spending two years on the women's basketball staff at the University Rhode Island. Tobey served as the primary recruiting coordinator for a season at URI while working alongside fellow assistant coach Cindy Blodgett.
Before joining the Rams, Tobey spent the 2010-11 season at Fordham where she also served as the recruiting coordinator and worked primarily with the post players.
Prior to her time in the Bronx, Tobey spent five seasons as the head coach at Lynchburg College, a Division III program in Lynchburg, Virginia. Highlights from her time with the Hornets include a 16-10 record during the 2007-08 campaign that led to a fourth-place finish in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and a recruiting class that produced three players who went on to win All-ODAC honors as well as an All-State and All-South Region Second Team selection.
Tobey arrived in Lynchburg following a two-year stint as the head coach at Lasell College, a Division III program located in Newton, Massachusetts. While with the Lasers, she also spent a season as an assistant on the women's lacrosse coaching staff.
Tobey embarked on her coaching career at Brown University during the 2002-03 season as an assistant coach. Her responsibilities included supervising the preseason strength and conditioning team workouts, helping coordinate recruiting activities and assisting with post player development.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experiences, Tobey served as the head coach for the United States of America Athletes International program. She served three stints in which she recruited collegiate athletes to compete in tournaments around the globe.
The 2002 Bryant graduate earned her undergraduate degree in business administrating with a concentration in marking and communications. She later completed her Masters of Education at Lynchburg in 2009.
Tobey appeared in 105 games for the Bulldogs and totaled 916 career points. In addition to her accolades on the court, Tobey captained the first-ever Bryant women's lacrosse team in the spring of 2002. She was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was honored with the William T. O'Hara Leadership Award at the 2002 Bryant All-Sports Banquet.
