For the 10th straight year, GoTerriers.com will once again count down the top 12 achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Tuesday and Friday as we reveal this year's Terrier Twelve.
Coming in at No. 6 in this year's Terrier 12 is the outstanding performance in the classroom by Boston University student-athletes this year as department GPA records were shattered.
For the second year in-a-row, Boston University surpassed its highest grade point average in department history, posting a 3.19 GPA amongst all 24 varsity programs. BU student-athletes closed the year in style, as they set a new semester record in the spring with a 3.21 GPA.
Of the department's 24 teams, 18 squads averaged at least a 3.0 GPA for the year, as the Patriot League champions women's tennis team posted the highest team GPA with a 3.61 average. In total, a depart-record 287 eligible student-athletes received Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition, which is given to those who post a 3.20 or higher GPA.
Additionally, three student-athletes were named Patriot League Scholar-Athletes of the year, as Remi Ramos of the women's tennis team and Adela Cejnarova of the women's golf team earned the honors, while Matt Groll claimed his second straight selection as a member of the men's indoor track and field team.
Other highlights include Groll adding CoSIDA Academic All-America honors for track and field with women's soccer's Rachel Bloznalis earning NSCAA Scholar All-America accolades.
