Women Lose To Penn State In Dual-Match Opener

The women's tennis team opened the dual-match portion of its spring season on Saturday (February 10th) by losing to Penn State, 5-2, at the Boston Tennis Club.
A pair of freshmen-Lynn Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) and Hannah Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, NM) accounted for the Terriers' points at numbers three and six singles, respectively.
Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) defeated Judy Wang, 6-4, 6-2, while Bartell won in straight sets over April Uy, 6-2, 6-4.
The Lady Lions won the first point of the afternoon when they took two of the three doubles matches. Dynoff and freshman Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) combined to win at number two doubles over Wang and Janelle Perez, 8-3.
Junior Christina Causway (Wilson, NC) and senior Carrie Rose (Bloomfield Hills, MI) lost to Pilar Montgomery and Rebecca Ho, 8-2, at number one doubles, 8-2. At number three doubles, sophomore Alana Marcu and senior Hsiao Ning Ham (Jersey City, NJ) lost to Leigh Ann Merryman and Whiteside, 8-3.
In the singles matches, Causway lost to Ho at number one, 4-6, 2-6; Rose lost to Montgomery at number two, 0-6, 3-6; deMendoza lost to Kristin Nowicki at number four,4-6, 0-6; and Marcu lost to Merryman, 3-6, 5-6, at number five.
