Old Dominion Hands Terriers 6-1 Loss

The Terrier women's tennis team opened its two-match trip to Virginia on Friday (March 23rd) with a 6-1 loss to an Old Dominion team that was ranked 34th in the nation.
B.U., which was coming off a 6-1 win over Dartmouth, won just one singles match against the Lady Monarchs, who have now won 11 straight matches.
The Terriers' lone win came at number five singles where sophomore Alana Marcu (Leonia, NJ) won a hard-fought three-set match, 6-7, 6-3, 11-9.
In other singles play, junior Christina Causeway (Wilson, NC) lost at number one, 6-0, 6-1. Senior Carrie Rose (Bloomfield Hills, MI) dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision at number two. Freshman Lindsey Dynof (Colts Neck, NJ) lost at number three, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Elena deMendoza (Madrid, Spain) lost at number four, 6-1, 6-0, while freshman Hannah Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, CA) lost at number six, 6-4, 7-6.
Old Dominion also captured the doubles point as the duos of Causeway/Rose and Dynof/deMendoza were each defeated in number one and two, 8-3, while Marcu and senior Ning Ham (Jersey City, NJ) lost at number three, 8-4.
The Terriers' season record slipped to 5-5 as they look for a win Saturday against Virginia Commonwealth University.
