Men's Track Takes Second At Snowflake Invitational

BOSTON - In its first meet at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center, the Terrier men's track team finished in second place in the three-team Snowflake Invitational meet to open the 2002-03 Indoor Track season.
The TTC replaced the Commonwealth Armory, which was the home of the men's and women's track teams since 1979.
America East-foe New Hampshire edged B.U., 94-93, as three Wildcats earned first-place finishes. Central Connecticut State finished in third place with 69 total points.
Five Terriers, including three field competitors, were individual champions. In addition, the Terriers won two relays, the 4x200-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay.
Freshman Gabe Goldman (Trumbull, CT) bested classmate Troy Sexton (Sherwood, OR) to win the pole vault with a height of 4.11 meters. Sophomore Jeff McAulay (Poughkeepsie, NY) took first in the long jump with a distance of 6.52 meters. Senior Mike Coronado (New York, NY) won the shot put with a throw of 14.19 meters.
On the track, freshman Phil Putis (Chelmsford, MA) made his collegiate debut with a first-place finish in the 800-meter run, finishing a time of 1:57.02. Senior Liam Revell (Bellville, Ontario) won the 1-mile run in a time of 4:16.0.
The 4x200-meter relay team of freshman Lucjan Zaborowski (Chorzow, Poland), seniors Chris Brandon (Las Cruces, NM) and Steve Deppe (Metuchen, NJ), and McAulay defeated the teams from UNH and CCSU with a time of 1:29.26.
For the 4x400-meter relay, a team of four freshmen, Samuel Zephir (Randolph, MA), Mainak Bardhan (Old Bridge, NJ), Justin Baird (Belmont, MA) and Goldman, won with a time of 3:35.04.
The Terriers continue their indoor season with an invitational meet on Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Track and Tennis Center.
