Okaroh Named To 2005 National Soccer Hall of Fame Ballot

BOSTON - Former All-American Francis Okaroh ('87) was one of 53 players named to the 2005 National Soccer Hall of Fame Ballot as announced by Hall of Fame President/CEO Will Lunn on Friday, Jan. 28.
Two individuals from the ballot will be elected to the Hall of Fame as long as each receives a minimum of 50 percent of the vote. A third person may be elected if that individual receives a minimum of 80 percent of the vote.
Okaroh, a four-time All-New England selection, led the Terriers to back-to-back NCAA appearances in 1985 and 1986. During his senior season in 1986, Okaroh earned Second Team All-American honors while ranking second on the team in both goals (11) and points (23). Okaroh currently ranks ninth on B.U.'s all-time goals scored list with 26 in his career.
Following his illustrious career at B.U., Okaroh played Major League Soccer for six seasons, representing the Miami Fusion, the Chicago Fire, and the New England Revolution. During the 1998 season, Okaroh led the Fire to the 1998 MLS Championship.
Okaroh currently lives in the Boston area where he is the director of the Ultimate Soccer Academy and coaches for the F.C. Greater Boston, the Spirit of Mass, and Dover Sherborn High School Girls Varsity team.
