Men's Soccer to Participate in Inaugural Northeast Spring Cup
February 17, 2026 | Men's Soccer
DURHAM, N.H. — Eight NCAA Division I Men's Soccer programs introduced the inaugural Northeast Spring Cup (NSC), a premier spring-season men's soccer event featuring the region's most competitive programs. The NSC will bring together UNH, Boston College, Boston University, UConn, Providence, UMass, Bryant and Vermont for a multi-day showcase of NCAA Division I men's soccer at venues throughout New England.
The NSC is designed to celebrate the strength of men's soccer in the New England region while providing student-athletes with high-level, non-conference competition during the spring semester.
"We're incredibly excited to bring together so many of the premier college soccer programs for the Northeast Spring Cup," said UNH head coach Rich Weinrebe, the driver behind the event. "The New England region has a deep, proud soccer tradition, and the NSC celebrates that by creating a first-class competitive environment for our student-athletes that will prepare each program for the fall while strengthening regional rivalries."
The eight participating institutions represent a mix of national NCAA tournament regulars and longstanding regional rivals from the ACC, America East, Big East, Patriot League and Summit League. These programs have combined for 110 NCAA tournament appearances, 33 conference titles and four national championships.
The Northeast Spring Cup is expected to draw college soccer fans from throughout New England and beyond. Teams will be divided into groups of four with a North and South Region. During group play, each team will face each of its division opponents for a total of three matches. The top team from each group will advance to the championship final, which will be held at a neutral location. All remaining teams will play a fourth match to determine third place through eighth place.
