BOSTON – Cheers erupted from the stands of Nickerson Field on Saturday night as the Boston University men's soccer bench flooded onto the pitch, marking a 4-0 victory against Army West Point to open Patriot League play.

Senior Andrea Di Blasio scored two goals for the Terriers, tying his career high in single game goals. Junior Pharis Petrica found the back of the net for his first goal of the season while senior Keke Abai recorded his second career goal and an assist. Junior Dylan Williams set a career high in single game assists with two on the evening as senior Lapo Romieri had one assist.

In net, senior Ben Alexander recorded his third consecutive clean sheet, marking the eighth of his career and his fourth at BU.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Terriers took the first to shots of the game in at the 5' mark, when sophomore Austin Mobray's shot got blocked and junior Jack Grossman's shot went high.
Army didn't take its first shot of the match until the 14^th minute, a shot by Reef McGee that went high and right. In the following minute, Army tried again to put itself on the board with a shot by Ronald Zhai that went high.
The Black Knights then went for their third scoring chance in three minutes, a shot by Jubril Bamgbala that flew high.
Army made its first save of the evening in the 25^th minute when Abai aimed a shot at the low left pocket of the net.
In the 30^th minute, Romeiri gained possession off a shortly played Army corner, passing to Williams who connected with Andrea Di Blasio to put the Terriers up 1-0.
At the 32' mark, Army's Kasem Minzey attempted to even the score but his shot went wide.
Abai tried to add onto the score in the 35^th minute with a shot aimed for the low center of the net, but Army's Collin Gilbert saved it. In the following minute, Di Blasio fired a shot high.
In the 39^th minute, Abai had another attempt to gain another point for BU but his shot missed high.
With just 20 seconds left in the first half, Army's Brantley Wigginton fired a shot aimed for the low center of the net, which Alexander saved.
Williams connected with Petrica for his second assist of the night, as the junior midfielder slotted the ball in the back left pocket of the net in the 49^th minute.
In the 53^rd minute, Abai recorded his second career goal as he ran past several defenders to slot the ball into the bottom right pocket of the net.
At the 55' mark, William fired a shot aimed for the low center of the net, which was saved.
Romieri earned himself an assist in the 59^th minute as he passed the ball to Abai, who stood just outside the net, as Abai connected with Di Blasio for his second goal.
A yellow card was assessed to Army's Reef McGee in the 63^rd minute. Another yellow card was issued to Army's Gunnar Guest in the 65^th minute.
Alexander made his first save of the second half and his second of the game in the 67^th minute off a shot by Army's Bamgbala.
Army's Curtis Boozer attempted to get the Black Knights on the board with a shot in the 71^st minute that got blocked. In the following minute, Army's Abhi Tomar fired a shot high.
Army's Wiggington fired a shot in the 77^th minute to the low left pocket of the net, which was saved by Alexander.
Sophomore Mateo Turletti missed a shot high and to the left in the 80^th minute.
Junior Louis Crofts fired off his first shot of the game, aimed for the bottom left of the night, which was saved by Army's Blair Carmargo.
Jacob Kobane attempted to add another point on the board for BU, but his shot got blocked in the 83^rd minute, marking the final shot of the game for either team.

STATS

BU outshot Army West Point 16-10 and had an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.
The Black Knights had all three yellow cards of the game and recorded 17 fouls to the Terriers' 13.
Army West Point faced 16 shots while BU faced 10.

GAME NOTES

Alexander and Harper each totaled 90 minutes on the pitch. This marks Harper's fifth consecutive game where he's played the full 90 minutes, while Alexander has seen every minute on the pitch this season.
The Terriers remain undefeated against the Black Knights at home, improving their record to 7-0-3 dating back to their first meeting on Nov. 18, 1978.
This marks BU's largest margin of victory against Army West Point since Sept. 4, 1986 when it shutout the Black Knights 4-0 at home.
