
Men's Soccer Defeats Loyola Maryland, 2-1, To Remain Undefeated In PL Play

BALTIMORE – The Boston University men's soccer team remains undefeated in Patriot League play, picking up its fourth league win in 2-1 fashion against Loyola Maryland on Saturday afternoon.
Junior forward Ben Bagshaw put BU (5-2-3, 4-0-0 PL) on the board with his first goal as a Terrier, thanks to assists from sophomore midfielder Mateo Turletti and freshman midfielder Ryan Ghajar.
Senior forward Andrea Di Blasio recorded his fifth consecutive game with a goal after connecting with assists from Bagshaw and junior midfielder Pharis Petrica to extend the lead.
The Greyhounds (3-5-1, 1-2-1 PL) got on the board late in the second half with a free kick goal scored by Tyler Flynn, assisted by Jack Endacott and Jeremiah McGuire, but were unable to get the upper hand on the Terriers.

BU will finish off its road trip on Friday, Oct. 9 at Colgate. The 6 p.m. game will be streamed on ESPN+.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Loyola Maryland's Tyler Flynn took the first shot of the afternoon just two minutes into the game, which got blocked by a BU defender.
- Senior forward Lapo Romieri took two consecutive wide shots at the 9' mark to record BU's first scoring attempts of the afternoon.
- The first yellow card of the game was assessed to Loyola Maryland's Jeremiah McGuire in the 25th minute.
- McGuire forced senior goalkeeper Ben Alexander to make the first save of the game for either goalkeeper in the 29th minute.
- Junior forward Dylan Williams took a high shot for the Terriers in the 39th minute, then the Greyhounds returned the favor with a high shot of their own.
- At the 42' mark, Alexander made back-to-back saves off shots from McGuire and Lukas Cortes to keep the game scoreless with just minutes left until halftime.
- Loyola Maryland's Brandon Meminger took a shot that went out top to end the first half.
- Petrica took BU's first shot of the second half in the 48th minute, which went out left.
- In the 51st minute, Turletti and Ghajar passed the ball up the field to Bagshaw, who scored a wide-open goal to put the Terriers up by one. Four minutes later, Bagshaw attempted to extend the Terrier's lead with two consecutive shots that went out top.
- Petrica and Bagshaw pass the ball to Di Blasio, who headed the ball directly into the net to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead.
- Ghajar was assessed a yellow card in the 63rd minute. Alexander was also given a yellow card in the 70th minute.
- The Greyhounds chipped away at the Terriers' lead in the 72nd minute with a free kick goal scored by Flynn, assisted by Endacott and McGuire. They attempted to tie the game with back-to-back corner kicks, resulting in a shot that went wide.
- BU's bench was given a yellow card in the 85th minute.
- Loyola Maryland's Cesare D'Amico attempted to even the score in the 86th minute with a shot that went wide to the right.
- The Greyhounds outshot the Terriers 13-10 and had four shots on goal to the Terriers' two.
