BOSTON – The Boston University men's soccer team picked up a victory in the Charles River rivalry on Tuesday, earning a 2-1 win over Harvard at Nickerson Field.

Senior Andrea Di Blasio put the Terriers on the board with his fourth goal of the season, while sophomore Anthony Harper put BU up by two with his first goal of the season. In net, senior Ben Alexander recorded two saves. This victory marks the Terriers' third consecutive win and their first time defeating Harvard at Nickerson Field since Oct. 15, 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Freshman midfielder Ryan Ghajar took the first shot of the game in the 4^th minute, which got blocked by a Harvard defender. Four minutes later, junior midfielder Pharis Petrica fired a shot that went high above the net.
In the 11^th minute, senior forward Keke Abai fired off a shot which was punched away by Harvard's goalkeeper Jason Broome, allowing Di Blasio and Dylan Williams to each get a shot fired off. Williams shot deflected off the cross bar, connecting with Di Blasio who found the back of the net to put the Terriers up by one.
A yellow card was assessed to Harvard's Adam Poliakov in the 14^th minute.
Harvard had its first shot of the game in the 19^th minute when Poliakov took a shot that went wide to the left.
Freshman Jacob Kobane took a shot at the 20' mark, aimed for the high left of the net, which was saved by Broome.
Harvard's Phoenix Wooten was assessed a yellow card in the 24^th minute.
In the 43^rd minute, Ghajar fired a shot to the right of the net, which was saved by Broome.
Petrica connected with Harper off a corner kick, allowing the sophomore defender to head the ball into the net for his first goal of the season and the second of his career.
The Crimson opened the second half with a scoring opportunity as Yuta Hata had a shot blocked by a BU defender. Harvard's Dylan Tellado gained possession and fired a shot to the bottom right of the net, allowing Alexander to make his first save of the night.
BU returned the favor at the 58' mark when senior forward Lapo Romieri aimed a shot for the left center of the net, forcing Groome to make his first save of the second half. In the following minute, sophomore midfielder Hayes Benzan fired a shot at the high center of the net, resulting in another save for the Crimson.
Junior forward Ben Bagshaw ripped a shot in the 67^th minute which Broome saved. Bagshaw attempted to add onto the Terriers' lead again in the 72^nd minute with a shot to the low right, resulting in another save.
Alexander made his second save of the night in the 73^rd minute off a shot by Poliakov.
A yellow card was assessed to sophomore defender Austin Mobray in the 75^th minute.
Bagshaw forced another save for Broome in the 78^th minute, firing his third shot of the evening. In the following minute, junior forward Louis Crofts attempted to float the ball into the low left of the net, allowing Broome to record his eighth save of the evening.
Harvard's Xavier Tanyi fired a shot off the crossbar in the 81^st minute, allowing Bagshaw to regain possession and rip back-to-back shots.
Bagshaw recorded his sixth and final shot of the night in the 85^th minute as the ball barely skimmed the top left of the net.
Harvard's Andreas Savva was assessed a yellow card in the 88^th minute.
Harvard's Gil de Souza had a shot blocked off a free kick, regained possession, then put Harvard on the board with one second left in the game.

STATS

The Terriers outshot the Crimson 20-12 and had 10 shots on goal to the Crimsons' three.
BU took nine corner kicks to Harvard's three.
The Crimson recorded three yellow cards while the Terriers had one.

GAME NOTES

Alexander and Harper each totaled 90 minutes on the pitch. This marks Harper's seventh consecutive game where he's played the full 90 minutes, while Alexander has seen every minute on the pitch this season.
For the first time in his career, Di Blasio has scored in three consecutive games, extending his scoring streak to a career-best three games.
The Terriers are now 19-28-10 in all-time series against the Crimson, with a 10-4-3 record at home.
Benzan made his first career start in Tuesday's match.
