BOSTON – After playing three consecutive road games to open the season, the Boston University men's soccer team came to a 0-0 result in its home opener against New Hampshire on Friday.

It was a defensive battle against the New England rivals, with the Terriers recording just one save on the night to New Hampshire's two. In the second half, BU saw an offensive surge which allowed it to outshoot New Hampshire 6-2.

Senior goalkeeper Ben Alexander recorded his first clean sheet of the season, which marks the sixth of his career and his second at BU. Senior Andrea Di Blasio and sophomores Sebastian Otero and Anthony Harper each had one shot on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Otero fired off the first shot of the game at the 10' mark, which was blocked by a New Hampshire defender. Seconds later, Di Blasio took BU's second shot of the night which went high and left.
The Wildcats didn't have their first shot until the 25^th minute, when Miguel Soto Gonzalez fired high and left.
New Hampshire attempted to find the back of the net again in the 39^th minute when Arturo McConnochie fired off a shot, but it went high and wide.
At the 34' mark, Dylan Williams gave BU its first scoring opportunity in the second half, attempting a cross which curved toward the net but was deflected by a New Hampshire defender.
Williams tried to put BU on the board in the 63^rd minute when he took the first shot of the second half, which went high. In the 64^th minute, freshman Chinelo Robinson attempted to give BU the advantage with a shot that went high.
New Hampshire took its first shot of the second half in the 70^th minute, a midfield shot by Soto Gonzalez that was saved by Alexander.
Robinson gave BU another opportunity to score in the 73^rd minute with a shot aimed directly for the center of the net that was blocked.
Senior Keke Abai had BU's first shot on goal of the night in the 75^th minute, but it was saved by New Hampshire's Jochum Magnussom. In the 81^st minute, Robinson fired a wide shot.
New Hampshire made its final attempt to get on the board in the 81^st minute when Soto Gonzalez fired a wide shot. BU's Harper took the Terriers' final shot of the game, which was aimed for the bottom left of the net and saved.

STATS

BU outshot New Hampshire 8-4 and had two shots on goal to New Hampshires one.
The Terriers had 21 fouls compared to 11 for the Wildcats.
BU had the sole yellow card of the game.
New Hampshire took two corner kicks while BU took one.

GAME NOTES

Alexander, Harper and freshman Guillem Vila Ametller each totaled 90 minutes on the pitch. This marks Ametller and Harper's third consecutive game where they've played the full 90 minutes.
This marks BU's first clean sheet since its 1-0 win over Colgate on Oct. 10, 2025.
With the scoreless decision, this becomes the 11^th tie in series history.
