Men's Tennis Wins Exhibition With Montreal, 4-3
January 29, 2007 | Men's Tennis
BOSTON - Senior co-captains Barrett Wolf (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Ross Lohr (Newton, Mass.) delivered two big points and led the Boston University men's tennis team (1-1) to a 4-3 victory over the University of Montreal at BU's Track and Tennis Center on Sunday morning.
Playing number one singles, Wolf outlasted Montreal's Alexandre Cluettler and won 7-6 (0), 5-7, 6-4. After Wolf pulled out his match, Lohr clinched the victory for the Terriers by defeating Maciek Zarzycki 7-6 (5), 6-3.
"It's always tough to find a rhythm in your early matches," coach Rocky Jarvis said. "But our guys, with Ross and Barrett leading the way, fought hard today. This victory is hopefully a sign of things to come."
After Wolf and junior Giulio Galloratti (Higganum, Conn.) clinched the doubles point for BU, freshman Jeff Chudacoff (Highland Park, Ill.) was the first off the courts as he won easily against Montreal's Nicolas Veilleux, 6-0, 6-3. Following Chudacoff's impressive win, BU lost three consecutive matches. With the match still hanging in the balance, Wolf and Lohr came through to give the Terriers the victory.
The Terriers will take on conference rival UMBC on Friday, Feb. 2, at the Track and Tennis Center.
