Cambridge, Mass. - The No.14 Boston University field hockey team won its regular-season finale over Vermont, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Jack Barry Field. With the win, the Terriers completed a perfect 5-0 conference season and secured home-field advantage for the America East Championship.

Sophomore Suus Dekker scored the game-winner with 6:33 left in the first half, and the team never looked back. Supported by a strong defensive effort, the Terriers (15-5, 5-0 AE) held the Catamounts (12-6, 3-2 AE) to only six shots. Senior Hayley Hamada notched her tenth goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Gabby Hajjar with 20:13 left in the second half, providing insurance for Boston University.

Dekker led all players with five shots, four of which came in the first half. The Terriers totaled 15 shots on goal, forcing the Vermont goalkeeper to make six saves. Seniors Sarah Hudak, Pam Spuehler, Hadley Adams, Sarah Shute and Hamada combined for nine of the teams shots on Senior Day, marking the last regular-season game the class of 2008 will play for the scarlet and white.

The season is not yet over for the Terriers, as they advance to the first round of the America East playoffs, being played at Jack Berry Field in Cambridge on Friday, Nov. 2, with the finals following on Nov. 4.
