CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior Anne Wighton has been named to the America East All-Academic Team, as was announced by the league Wednesday. Wighton was selected both for her excellence in the classroom and as a runner.
To be considered for the honor, the student-athlete must carry a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 entering the season and must finish in the top 10 at the America East Cross Country Championship. Wighton finished fifth with a 18:01.8 finish time at the America East Championship at Sunken Meadows in King's Park, N.Y.
Wighton's showing at the America East Championship falls in line with her other results this year. She placed fourth in the year's first event at Franklin Park in Boston (19:06) and 10th at the New England Championships (18:38), also held at Franklin Park.
Wighton is enrolled in the University's College of Health and Rehabilitation Services.
