February 19, 2007 | Men's Tennis
BOSTON - The Boston University men's tennis team dominated conference rival Hartford and won, 7-0, Sunday, Feb. 18 at the Track and Tennis Center. The Terriers improve to 4-3 on the year.
BU jumped out to an early advantage and took the doubles point by winning first and third doubles. Once the singles began, the Terriers did not let up and proved to be too much for their opponents. At first singles, senior Barrett Wolf added another victory to his winning streak by defeating Artur Muller, 6-1, (ret.). In second singles, junior co-captain Jared Kobren continued his impressive comeback from offseason wrist surgery by beating Dorie Baglan, 6-4, 1-1 (ret.).
"Our team is really starting to get going, you can just feel it," coach Rocky Jarvis said. "We played some very solid, high-level tennis this afternoon and just wore Hartford down."
In third and fourth singles, sophomore Charles Weinstein and freshman Jeff Chudacoff played well to defeat their opponents. At the fifth spot, sophomore Miron Nissim easily defeated Brendan O'Rouke, 6-1, 6-1. In sixth singles, junior Daniel Frid made his spring debut and dominated Hartford's Emmett Drake, 6-0, 6-0.
"If we can keep this momentum going, we can accomplish some big things," Jarvis said. "The guys have been working extremely hard in the gym and on the practice court, and today it really showed."
The Terriers will play their next match against Sacred Heart on Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Track and Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
