BOSTON - The Boston University men's tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches by defeating the University of Rhode Island, 5-2, on Friday, March 2 at the Track and Tennis Center. The victory moves BU to 6-3 on the year.
Led by strong efforts at first and third doubles, the Terriers again won the doubles point to take an early advantage. Senior Barrett Wolf and sophomore Charles Weinstein quickly finished off their opponents in first doubles, while co-captains Ross Lohr and Jared Kobren clinched the point by winning third doubles. Following doubles action, Wolf extended his winning streak by defeating URI's Henrik Almstrom, 6-1, 7-5. In third singles, Weinstein fought off an injury and gave a gutsy performance to beat Dixon Simmons, 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Jeff Chudacoff and senior Lohr completed BU's victory by winning their matches in straight sets.
"I don't think we started the singles matches with our best stuff," declared coach Rocky Jarvis. "But we got better as they went on and we showed great determination. Overall it was a great effort."
