BOSTON – Athletes from the Boston University women's tennis, golf and both the men's and women's outdoor track and field teams were represented on the America East All-Academic Teams, as announced by the conference on Friday. In all, eight athletes were selected to the team for earning cumulative grade points averages of 3.0 or better and excelling athletically.
Outdoor track and field led the way with five representatives, three hailing from the women's team and two from the men's. The athletes must have placed third or better at the conference championship meet to qualify. Claire Robson, a graduate student at BU's Medical School, senior Marisa Ryan, also a first year medical student, and sophomore Rebecca Marshburn, who is currently enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, represented the women's team.
Robson ran the third leg of BU's 4x800-meter relay team that took first at the meet with a time of nine minutes, 5.97 seconds. Ryan earned two first-place finishes during the meet, taking the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:01.74 and the 10,000 meters in a time of 36:04.56. Marshburn also earned a top finish, winning the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.99, and also placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.79.
On the men's side, seniors Barry Graham and Phil Shaw both made the team and are enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. At the AE Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Graham placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 48.36 seconds, while Shaw took third place in the 10,000 meters, finishing in a time of 32:15.49.

The women's golf team had two representatives on the All-Academic Team as sophomores Allison Hamilton and Lauren Stong were both honored. Stong claimed the individual title at the AE Championships, shooting a 163 – the best individual two-day total in the history of the championship. Hamilton finished third overall, shooting a 167.
Team size for individual sports is determined by the number of all-conference honorees who possess the minimum academic requirement. Freshmen are not eligible for the All-Academic Team.
