BOSTON -
Mike Delgado has been named an assistant track and field coach at Boston University, director of track and field Robyne Johnson announced today. Delgado comes to BU from Stonehill, where he spent two years in the same position.
As an assistant track and field coach at Stonehill, Delgado designed and implemented day-to-day workouts for all sprint, jump and multi-event athletes on both the men's and women's teams. He also recruited student-athletes for those groups and designed and implemented strength programs for all of the Skyhawks' event groups.
During Delgado's tenure in Easton, the Skyhawks produced their first All-American in a non-distance event with a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash at the 2007 NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship.
A 2005 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a bachelor of science degree in resource economics, Delgado was a captain of the Huskies' men's track and field team as a senior and captured New England championships in the 55-meter hurdles and the heptathlon, setting a meet record in the latter. He also competed in the NCAA regionals and was an All-Big East performer in the 110-meter high hurdles in each of his four years.
A native of Bridgewater, Delgado currently resides in Brockton.
