Freshman Shelby Walton won the 55-meter and 200-meter dashes to help the Boston University women's indoor track and field team to a sweep of a four-team meet on Thursday evening at the BU Track and Tennis Center. Freshman Jackie Dim, junior Sarah Mosser and seniors Katie Weider, Becky Marshburn and Edwina Clark also topped their events as the Terriers bested Boston College, Massachusetts and Sacred Heart.
BU outscored the Eagles, 69-52, beat the Minutewomen by a 77-58 margin and were 72-63 winners over the Pioneers.
Walton captured the 55m with a time of 7.14 and posted the fastest time in the 200m with a 25.18. The freshman also finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.19m. Senior Erin Catarius was third in the 55m dash with a 7.27. Sophomore Alex Jackson finished fourth in the 55m dash in 7.37 and came in third in the triple jump, reaching 10.64m.
Dim won the 400m dash with a 58.01 and was third-best in the 200m with a 25.48. Sophomore Laura Martin was fourth in the 400m, crossing in 1:00.33. Junior Casey Jordan had the second-fastest time in the 500m dash, posting a 1:16.95.
Mosser was just shy of a five-minute mile, completing the race in 5:00.26 to win the event at her second straight meet.
Weider finished first in the 800m, posting a 2:16.16 to lead the pack, while sophomore Kathleen Davies came in fourth with a 2:21.92. Senior Mollie Zapata was third in the 3,000m, notching a 10:22.76.
Marshburn won the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.69 to lead a pack of seven. The BU 4x400m relay team of sophomore Amanda Howard, Marshburn, Dim and Clark closed out the meet with a second-place finish, clocking in at 3:57.68.
In the field events, Clark captured the long jump with a leap of 5.63m, 30 centimeters better than her nearest competitor. Sophomore Karly Neveu tied for second in the high jump, clearing 1.65m, while junior Fiona Romeri was third in the pole vault at 3.30m. Freshman Mia Pasini came in the fourth in the triple jump, traveling 10.60m.
The Terriers are in action again on Jan. 23, hosting the Terrier Invitational at 2 p.m. at the Track and Tennis Center.
