DEDHAM, Mass. - The Boston University track and field team opened the outdoor season with a contingent of throwers competing at the Husky Spring Invitational on Saturday at the Solomon Track. Sophomore Dan Withrow finished second in the men's discus throw, while classmate Jen Fleser was fifth in the women's hammer throw.

Withrow notched a throw of 49.96m in the discus throw, while junior Jan Bicanic was fourth in the event with a mark of 46.35m. Senior Mike Salem competed in the javelin throw, finishing 30th with a mark of 38.73m.

On the women's side, Fleser was fifth in the hammer throw with a 42.80m toss and 27th in the discus throw at 23.72m. Abbey Baslock-Bechler finished 11th in the discus throw with a mark of 32.67m.

The Terriers return to action next weekend, competing in the Tufts Snowflake Classic and the Stanford Invitational.
