Posting wins in nine events, the Boston University women's outdoor track and field team finished atop a field of 16 teams at the Tufts Snowflake Classic on Saturday at the Dussault Complex. Freshman Jackie Dim won two individual events, while senior Tahari James and sophomore Laura Martin were part of two winning relay squads.
The Terriers finished with 181 points, outpacing host Tufts, who tallied 149.5 points.
The Terriers dominated the shorter sprints, capturing the top three spots in the 100m dash, the top six places in the 200m dash and the top two in the 400m dash. Freshman Shelby Walton won the 100m dash in 12.18, followed by James (12.24) and junior Whitney Ford (12.41). Senior Alyssa Fanucci also scored in the event with a seventh-place finish (13.06).
Dim won the 200m dash in 25.14 with a pack of Terriers just behind. Walton was second (25.30) and Martin finished third (25.45), followed by sophomores Amanda Howard (25.73) and Alex Jackson (26.09) and senior Edwina Clark (26.34).
Dim also finished first in the 400m dash, crossing in 59.21 with Howard coming in second in 59.87.
The Terriers swept the relay events as well. The 4x100m team of Ford, James, Martin and Walton qualified for the ECAC Championships with its winning time of 46.84, while senior Becky Marshburn, Martin, Howard and James teamed up to take the 4x400m relay in 4:02.49.
Senior Becky Marshburn won the 400m hurdles in 1:03.67 and junior Casey Jordan finished third (1:07.47). Freshman Bre Parihala was eighth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.50.
Ford also won the triple jump, with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 12.53m. Sophomore Karly Neveu cleared 1.65m to win the high jump. In the pole vault, junior Fiona Romeri tied for third (10-0) and freshman Aly Rofrano tied for seventh (9-0). Fanucci finished fourth in the long jump (5.29m).
Freshman Katie Matthews and senior Mollie Zapata swept the top two spots in the 3,000m steeplechase with Matthews posting an 11:42.06 and Zapata just behind at 11:42.96. Freshman Anna Lukes also scored in the distance events with an eighth-place finish in the 800m run at 2:27.66.
Sophomore Jen Fleser was fourth in the hammer throw (43.21m), while freshman Abbey Baslock-Bechler finished fifth in the discus throw (34.16m).
The Terriers will return to action next weekend, competing in the Texas Relays, the Florida Relays and the Stonehill Invitational.
