GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Tahari James finished 14th in the long jump at the NCAA East Regional on Friday, highlighting action for the Boston University women's outdoor track and field team on the first day of competition at the Irwin Belk Track. Senior Becky Marshburn and the Terriers' 4x100m relay team competed in preliminaries as well.

James' best leap was a mark of 5.89m, tying her for 14th in the competition that was won by Kimberly Williams of Florida State with a mark of 6.66m.

The 4x100m relay team of junior Whitney Ford, James, sophomore Laura Martin and freshman Shelby Walton finished in 46.28, good for 19th place in the trials.

Competing in trials for the 400m hurdles, Marshburn won her heat, but her time of 1:00.80 did not qualify for the finals and resulted in a 20th-place finish.

Ford and James will be back in action tomorrow, competing in the triple jump at 1 p.m. with hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
