AMHERST, Mass. -
Freshman Shelby Walton finished second in the 100-meter dash to highlight action on the final day of competition as the Boston University women's outdoor track and field team finished seventh at the New England Championship on Saturday at the UMass Track and Field Complex. Sophomore Amanda Howard finished fourth in the 400m dash.
The Terriers finished with a total of 43 points in the two-day meet to post their best finish at New Englands since 2005. Boston College captured the New England title with 87 points, beating out runner-up New Hampshire's 79.5 points.
Walton posted a time of 11.95 to edge two other competitors that were within a hundredth of a second for second place in the 100m dash.
Howard clocked a season-best time of 56.76 in the 400m to finish fourth.
The Terriers are back in action next weekend, competing at the ECAC Championship from Friday (May 15) through Sunday (May 17) in Princeton, N.J.
