BOSTON - Two Terriers will be competing for national titles this weekend as seniors Tahari James and Andrea Walkonen are set to represent the Boston University women's outdoor track and field team at the NCAA championships in Fayetteville, Ark. James will be participating in the triple jump, while Walkonen will race in the 10,000m run.

Walkonen takes to the track on Thursday evening with the 10,000m race scheduled to begin at 9:55 p.m. ET. She ran the second-fastest 10k in the nation this spring, posting a time of 33:13.66 at the Stanford Invitational on March 27, but has been hampered by injury since then and has not competed in any other meets this spring. Walkonen earned All-America honors in cross country this fall and in the 5,000m run at the indoor track and field championships and will be seeking to become BU's first athlete to earn All-America honors in all three seasons since Christine Stief in 1995.

James will be aiming for her third All-America distinction in the triple jump after finishing in the top eight at both the indoor and outdoor national championships last year. Qualifying rounds begin Friday at 4 p.m. with the finals Saturday at 1 p.m. James set the BU record in the triple jump last season with a leap of 13.68m. Her best mark this season was 13.49m, recorded at the NCAA East Regionals last month. James was recently named the Northeast Region Division I Women's Field Athlete of the Year for her stellar spring season, which included America East championships in the long jump, triple jump and 4x100m relay and the New England championship in the long jump.

Live streaming video of the championships will be available online each day through the NCAA.
